LOS ANGELES -- Icelandic airline WOW air will offer low-cost flights from Los Angeles International Airport to Iceland and Europe beginning this summer.

Flights from WOW air to Iceland out of LAX will start at $99.

Passengers from LAX can also fly to cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, London, Paris and more by opting to have a one-hour layover in Iceland. Those one-way tickets will start at $199.

Skuli Mogensen, founder and CEO of WOW air, released a statement that said in part, "We are thrilled to add Los Angeles and San Francisco to our fast growing network. This is a game changer for WOW air as we cement ourselves as the industry leader in the ultra-low-cost long haul category."

The airline's expansion to California follows the launch of flights from London to Boston and Washington, D.C. in early 2015.

WOW air will also begin flying to Montreal and Toronto in May. The first WOW air flight from LAX is scheduled for June 15.
