Origami 'graffiti' surprises Asian Art Museum staff

SAN FRANCISCO

Workers expressed joy, not rage, when they came upon unauthorized artwork on one of their exterior walls.

Monday night, a group called "Upside Up" pasted hundreds of origami butterflies on the wall. They spell out the word "fly."

Museum staff say they're delighted the artists took care not to damage the wall and that they used origami, an art form appropriate for the Asian Art Museum.

They plan to keep it up as long as it lasts.
