After Christmas returns, sales bring crowds to Bay Area stores
Retail experts said the day after Christmas is one of the busiest days of the year as crowds return presents and hit stores looking for bargains.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Retail experts said the day after Christmas is one of the busiest days of the year as crowds return presents and hit stores looking for bargains.

"Close to 40 percent of people who are doing their post-holiday returns will do it on the 26th or the 27th. I would wait a week and probably return it the first week, the first or second week of January when you also see some major discounts as well," Optoro CEO Tobin Moore said.

Most of the people who arrived early at some Bay Area stores Tuesday were looking for discounts on holiday items.

A handful of people arrived at the 6 a.m. opening of the Walmart on Almaden Expressway in San Jose and took advantage of the 50 percent discount on wrapping paper and other holiday items. "I don't like to pay full price for gift wrap, so I know the stores are going to have everything 50 percent off and so that's why I like to come and get a good deal," San Jose resident Lynn Lazo said.
