'Thanks Ellen' ad runs in Silicon Valley newspaper

PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- A group of female tech workers believe Ellen Pao's gender discrimination case against her former Silicon Valley venture capital firm, Kleiner Perkins, was worth it, even though she didn't win.

The group raised money to buy a full page ad that simply says "Thanks Ellen."

It's featured in Tuesday's Palo Alto Daily Post that is distributed in about 1,000 Silicon Valley locations.

The women said that even though Pao did not get the verdict she wanted, it did inspire a greater conversation about diversity in the tech industry and could inspire more women to take a stand.
