Comedienne Michelle Collins named as the new co-host of 'The View'

Michelle Collins has been announced as the 15th co-host of The View.

The talk show announced Monday that the comedienne would join the panel next season after Rosie Perez finishes her run on the show.

Perez announced last week she would be leaving at the end of the season to pursue her acting career.

Collins, meanwhile, said she's excited to join the show.

"Everybody has been so welcoming and wonderful and kind to me and specifically you guys," she said of current co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace, Rosie Perez and Raven Symone.

The 33-year-old has co-hosted The View frequently in the past. She has been a driver on VH1's Walk of Shame Shuttle and also was the host of the syndicated show The Gossip Queens.

Season 19 of The View will begin in September on ABC.
