"Kill the Messenger" is the new movie directed by Michael Cuesta ("Dexter," "Homeland," "Six Feet Under"), starring Academy-Award nominee, Jeremy Renner. The film tells the tale of Gary Webb, a former San Jose Mercury News reporter who broke the story about the CIA's involvement in America's inner-city crack cocaine drug trade. Cuesta paints the picture of how resistant larger newspapers were to back up Webb's expose. It deftly paints the picture of the impact this story had on Webb's life.

Leyla Gulen sat down with Cuesta to talk about his latest project, the amazing ensemble cast and why he chose to film this Bay Area story outside of California.

'Kill the Messenger" opens in theaters October 10.
