SAN FRANCISCO -- It's closing time for a popular LGBT nightclub in San Francisco, but not before one last plea to the public, to make a lasting mark.
The Lexington Club announced its April 30 closing on Facebook. The club has been an 18 year staple at the corner of 19th and Lexington Streets. It's being pushed out by new development. A two-part farewell ball takes place Friday and Saturday.
Organizers are hoping to drum up support to put a permanent plaque at the street corner. They've started this GoFundMe page and are hoping to raise $6,500.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has already given the okay to the commemorative bid.
