SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A brand new season of salsas, sambas and spray tans is just hours away on ABC7. The 21st season of "Dancing with the Stars" premieres Monday night.
ABC7 Morning News Traffic Reporter Leyla Gulen talked with two contestants this season.
Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late wildlife expert Steve Irwin and, and former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter talked about what inspires them to compete for the Mirror Ball Trophy.
Irwin says the biggest challenge for her is the new footwear. "They put me in this pair of heels and I instantly fell over. And then I started walking like a baby giraffe. You know when a giraffe is first born and they're all wobbly and I felt terrible because Derek was like we have a far, far way to go," she said.

Leyla asked them if they've learned the famous "Whip" and "Nae Nae" dances. "Yes, I mean we have. We've all done it a little bit. But are we doing it the right way? I don't know," Carter responded.
"I had to do it with a snake because otherwise I couldn't have done it," Irwin said.
You can catch Nick Carter, Bindi Irwin and the rest of the cast in the two-night premiere of the 21st season of "Dancing With the Stars," beginning Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC7.
