Alexa Wenning received the adorable flipbook in the video above at the Lincoln Park Zoo lights festival, the Huffington Post points out. In the book, a cartoon dog (modeled after their own) is playing fetch and brings back a ring box. Inside is a ring and a question: "Marry me?"

Wenning wrote on a proposal blog that she thought Nelson was crazy when he told her he wanted to give her a Christmas present as they were stopped in front of a light display, as it was so cold she wanted to just keep moving.

It was all part of his plan, though.

"It was perfect because I had to take my gloves off to flip through it and I got the end, he pulled out the real ring and asked for my hand," she wrote.

Nelson had commissioned Ben Zurawski, a custom cartoon flipbook artist, to draw the proposal for him.

The ring in the book was just for show, Wenning wrote. After she had watched the cute scene play out in the book, she watched it come to life: Nelson was waiting with the real ring. She said yes.
