Bakery bandit makes off with popular cruffin recipe in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A mystery is unfolding in San Francisco. Police are on the hunt for someone who swiped recipes right out of a popular bakery.

Mr. Holmes Bakehouse on Larkin Street is known for its delicious cruffins. In case you're wondering, a cruffin is a muffin made from croissant dough.

But did the popularity lead to a case of sticky fingers?

Early Friday morning, a bakery worker noticed the recipe binders were empty. No equipment was missing and no money was taken. Just hundreds of recipes were gone.

"Someone got greedy, someone wanted more than what was theirs and yeah, they came on in," said Ry Stephen with Mr. Holmes Bakehouse.

One customer added, "It might be a rabid fan who really wants to make it for themselves."

The bakery does have a surveillance camera, but it wasn't turned on that day.
