The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Light the Night Walk" at AT&T Park in San Francisco hopes to help find a cure for cancer.

ABC7 anchor Natasha Zouves hosted the event in honor of her grandfather, who passed away from blood cancer.

Lanterns illuminated the night and the San Francisco Fire Department gave a special water cannon salute to the walkers as they made their way around AT&T Park. White lanterns were carried by survivors, red lanterns by supporters, and gold lanterns in honor of those who passed away.

The San Francisco walk at AT&T Park is the largest in a series of walks in the Bay Area. It raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. LLS says it is making cures happen by providing patient support services, advocating for lifesaving treatments and pioneering the most promising cancer research anywhere. Friends, families and co-workers form fundraising teams, and consumers help by donating at retail outlets. These efforts culminate in inspirational evening walks in nearly 200 communities across North America.

Employees at San Francisco-based Salesforce announced they raised a record $1 million dollars, which was matched by the company to make more than $2 million.

Many faces from the ABC7 news team were there and excited to meet the walkers.
