World Health Organization issues warnings against e-cigarettes

NEW YORK (KGO) -- A new report from the World Health Organization (WHO) is calling for a ban on the use of e-cigarettes indoors and for selling them to children.

The report also calls for an end to claims that the devices can help smokers quit until there is more firm evidence to support this claim.

The WHO also warns the products might pose a threat to the fetuses of pregnant women.

Supporters of e-cigarettes say the potential for a ban on indoor use is troubling because they say there's no evidence that the vapor emitted from the devices poses any harm to bystanders.
