CONCORD, Calif. -- Police in Concord said Friday the death of 13-month-old girl found in a pool Thursday appears to be an accident.
At 8:05 p.m., police and firefighters responded to reports of a toddler that had fallen into a swimming pool at a home on Ridge Park Lane, according to police.
The child's mother found the girl unconscious inside the pool and immediately performed CPR on the girl with the assistance of a neighbor, police said.
When police arrived, they took over CPR efforts to revive the victim.
According to police, emergency crews transported the girl to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, however she did not survive.
After a preliminary investigation, police determined the girl had exited the house at some point without the mother's knowledge and accidentally fell into the pool.
