Jarrod Wise from the Better Business Bureau explained to 7 On Your Side what scams homeowners and those who want to donate money should watch out for. (KGO-TV)

ABC7 News crews went to the Valley Fire evacuation center in Calistoga to offer assistance and 7 On Your Side's Michael Finney was there to talk to insurance and business experts on how to get the help they need and avoid scams.

Life is not easy at the evacuation center. 7 On Your Side spoke to fire evacuee Gary Lospaluto from Cobb who doesn't know if his home is still standing or not. He's been sleeping in his van, so we treated him to a night at the Mount View Hotel and Spa.

Jarrod Wise from the Better Business Bureau is warning people to watch out for scams, especially when unlicensed contractors come into town when the roads open up. You need to be careful as those people will go door to door to try to find work or their next scam victim. He also warns people who want to donate money to fire victims should watch out for fake crowd-funding pages for specific people that will pop up right about now.
