SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco police are investigating a deadly accident where a driver hit and killed a pedestrian. It happened at an intersection said to be one of the most dangerous in the city.
A yellow Toyota SUV hit the pedestrian. The driver, 40-year-old Calixto Dilinila, was arrested for suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and failing to yield to a pedestrian. The victim, an elderly woman, died at the scene.
"We know she's an Asian female and she's from the neighborhood and so we're trying to figure out - contact family - that sort of thing," said San Francisco Police Capt. David Lazar.
One resident who knew the victim said she lived in a senior living facility that's just feet from where she was hit at the corner of Sacramento Street and Stockton Street. The corner is often packed with elderly residents boarding buses and cars that regularly dart by.
Police have been trying to enforce traffic safety in this whole area. According to investigators it's not yet clear where the yellow SUV made contact with the pedestrian in the crosswalk. They're looking for witnesses to help them with this case.
