SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Friends, family and classmates are mourning the loss of two teenagers swept away and presumed drowned at Ocean Beach over the weekend.
The two victims have been identified on social media as Wayne Ausa and Grisham Duran.
Authorities say they are both 16 and were students at Vallejo High School.
Officials say they drowned at Ocean Beach in San Francisco Saturday afternoon.
Investigators say five teenagers walked arm in arm into the ocean together but a wave knocked their arms apart.
Three of the teens made it back to shore, Ausa and Duran did not.
A lifeguard for the National Park Service says Ocean Beach is not safe for swimming. "Ocean Beach is a dangerous place. There's a lot of currents, heavy surf advisories often. And our job as the beach patrol is actually to make safety contacts with patrons and inform them that it is not OK to swim here," lifeguard Doug Armstrong said.

Ausa's brother posted on Facebook: "Every day is an amazing journey and life with you brother. I'm not the best at giving speeches but all my heart is saying I love you. I know we have been through tough times and I never told you this but man, it hurts not having you here."
He also thanks Duran for being a genuine true friend.
Authorities say one teen noticed another teen was struggling - he went out to help him and they both disappeared.
One history teacher at Vallejo High School said on his Facebook page that he is going to do all he can to help the students through this tough time.
