SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KGO) -- Thanks to many people, a fund to feed orphaned bear cubs is growing fast. The Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care is a rescue center now raising nine baby bears, which is the most they've ever had this early in the summer.

This is the only place in California licensed to care for wild cubs. It will cost about $15,000 to feed the orphan bears until they're big enough to be released in the wild and the cost will go even higher if more cubs turn up.

Since ABC7 News first reported the story on Tuesday, the wildlife rescue center has received more than $11,000 in donations.

The Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care center relies entirely on private donations and they could really use help with their bear food budget. To make a donation, click here.
