SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- At least one person is dead after falling over a cliff and into the water near San Francisco's Sutro Baths.
Coastal rescue crews went into the water to find someone who fell off a cliff into the ocean near the Sutro Baths. Rescue teams from the a few agencies quickly mobilized using jet skies and boats.
The fire department said the person who called for help said a man fell into the water off a 50 to 100 foot cliff. Emergency crews say he may have hit the rocks below and went into the water.
A Coast Guard rescue boat was able to retrieve the man, but he did not survive.
"Units retrieved the victim from the water and taken to Marin, which is the base for the Coast Guard and unfortunately I have to report that the victim, an adult male, is deceased," said San Francisco Fir Batallion Chief Jose Velo.
The battalion Chief says this is unfortunately not the first water rescue they've had to respond to out here. He warned that the cliffs and coastal winds can be tricky, and visitors to this area should stick to the trails.
