Plea hearing set for 3 Santa Clara Co. jail guards charged in death of inmate

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- A plea hearing is set for Tuesday for the three Santa Clara County Jail guards charged in the beating death of a mentally ill inmate.

Michael Tyree, 31, died after being found unresponsive in his jail cell in August. An autopsy showed he died from blunt force trauma and internal bleeding.

Corrections deputies Matthew Farris, Rafael Rodriguez and Jereh Lubrin were arrested and charged with murdering Tyree.

They're due in court at 1:30 p.m.
