While demonstrators continue to highlight the killing of young unarmed black men by police, there were several Bay Area events Tuesday spotlighting police outreach to the community.
The SFPAL Sandlot program hosted sports games between children and law enforcement at various playgrounds and parks around San Francisco. That program kicked off at 3:30 at Joe DiMaggio Playground on Lombard Street.
In San Mateo, police bagged groceries at Whole Foods to raise money for sports and other programs benefiting under-served youth. That got underway at 11 a.m. at the Whole Foods on Park Place.
