Santa Clara Co. Sheriff's: 3 jail employees on leave following inmate's death

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office has confirmed to ABC7 News three jail employees are on administrative leave after an inmate died.

According to the sheriff's department, during a routine check on Thursday, around 12:35 a.m., jail personnel found an inmate unconscious. The jail called for medical help and fire paramedics pronounced the inmate dead.

The department won't give any explanation as to why the guards were placed on leave during the investigation into the inmate's death.
