SF residents allowed back into building damaged by fire
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help 58 people displaced by a fire in San Francisco's outer Mission District.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- On Monday, the 58 people displaced by a fire in San Francisco's outer Mission District were allowed to go into their building for a few minutes to take stock of what's left.

Most residents found little to salvage. They left in a hurry when the 5-alarm fire broke out at a building on 29th and Mission streets Saturday.

Two people were injured and six buildings were gutted, including a low-income voucher hotel.

Tenants got the all-clear Wednesday to re-enter after asbestos-testing was completed.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to support the displaced residents. So far, nearly $34,000 has been raised.

The city is offering grants of up to $10,000 for businesses affected such as Cole's Hardware and Playa Azul Restaurant, which were both completely destroyed.
