Twin Peaks shooting victim's family talks about recent arrest in Richmond

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Heavily armed SWAT officers rushed into a Richmond home on San Pablo Avenue Monday night to make an arrest in a triple shooting and carjacking at a popular San Francisco tourist spot.

The shooting happened at 2 a.m. Sunday morning at the top of Twin Peaks. It left two people dead and a third critically injured.

San Francisco police confirm they made an arrest in Richmond. However, as of 11 p.m., police did not identify the man they arrested since he was still being booked into jail.

Family of the victims - 19-year-old Rene Mora and 21-year-old Julio Peraza -- learned that the arrest had been made, but say it's no consolation.

Rene Mora, Sr., told ABC7 News, "That's not going to bring my son back."

Mora remembers his teenage son's radiant smile as prayer candles light his picture in their home.

"I know my son and from the bottom of my heart I know that he was very well liked," Mora said.

Both of the victims were from Santa Rosa. An 18-year-old man survived the shooting but, remains in critical condition at last update.

Mora tried to describe the pain of losing his son saying, "It's nothing like what I've ever experienced before."

Police say the gunman carjacked two tourists right after the shooting, stealing their dark gray GMC Yukon Denali. It belonged to a couple visiting from Fresno for the holiday weekend.

"As we're reversing our car, we hear these popping sounds," recalls tourist Jessica Costa.

"We locked eyes when he pointed the gun at me," Robert Torres said.

"All I saw was the gun this big clip in it and I instantly just looked down and pushed unlock on my car and I said, 'Babe, get out of the car,' and I just opened the door and ran out," tourist Jessica Costa said.
