Union City, Fremont sees increase in necklace snatching
After an aggressive necklace robbery at a Union City park in broad daylight occurred, police are warning women not to wear jewelry.

UNION CITY, Calif. (KGO) -- At Union City's Contempo Park a recent daylight robbery attempt took place there that has residents and police concerned.

A Good Samaritan topped a young man who was trying to rip the necklace off a woman's neck last Friday. The man ran through the bushes to a waiting get-a-way vehicle parked on the street with a driver inside.

Witnesses say the car was a grey or silver car.

Police arrested a juvenile in the Contempo Park case, but that's only one arrest. There have also been half a dozen robberies across Union City and Fremont.

Police are warning residents to be aware and not wear jewelry out in public.
