Several observances and events will take place around the Bay Area today to mark Veterans Day. Fees for veterans are waived at National Park Service parks and parks in the East Bay Regional Park District.



8 a.m. Breakfast for military veterans and families, sponsored by opening doors 2020, 304 N. Sixth St., San Jose.



9 a.m. Milpitas Veterans Day ceremony. Veterans Plaza at Milpitas City Hall 455 e. Calaveras Blvd., Milpitas



9 a.m. Veterans Day tree planting event, sponsored by Canopy. Menlo Park Veterans Administration, 795 Willow road, Menlo Park



9:30 a.m. Musical performances to kick off Marin County Veterans


Day activities. The official ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Veterans Memorial Auditorium, Marin Center, 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael



10 a.m. Redwood City Veterans Day ceremony. Actual ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Courthouse square, 2200 Broadway, Redwood City



10 a.m. Fairfield Veterans Day commemoration and parade.



10 a.m.: Commemoration ceremony, Downtown Theatre, 1035 Texas

12:30 p.m. parade starts at Kentucky and Webster Streets, Fairfield



10:30 a.m. Ceremony to kick off Santa Clara County Veterans Day activities. Events include a parade starting at noon, sponsored by the united Veterans council of Santa Clara County.



10:30 a.m. Ceremony at Market Street and Plaza de Cesar Chavez, San Jose



Noon: Parade starts at West Santa Clara Street and Notre Dame Avenue, with a viewing stand near the Tech Museum, 201 S. Market St., San Jose. Ceremony at the sap center, 525 w. Santa Clara St., San Jose



11 a.m. Veterans Day ceremony. Includes display of a model of a future memorial to Oakland residents killed in the Vietnam War. Includes an address by Army veteran Daniel Helix, now head of men's programs for the Bay Area rescue mission. Veterans Memorial Building, 200 Grand Avenue, Oakland



11 a.m. Pleasant Hill Veteran's Day celebration, sponsored by the Valor Center at John F. Kennedy university and the Rotary Club of Pleasant Hill. Event includes music, food, games and speeches. Pleasant Hill Park, 147 Gregory Lane, Pleasant Hill

1 p.m. Petaluma North Bay Veterans Day Parade, the largest Veterans Day parade in Northern California. Starts at Walnut Park, Petaluma Boulevard and D Street and then back on Fourth Street to Walnut Park, Petaluma



1 p.m. Opening of a Berkeley historical society exhibit titled "Berkeley Home Front," a display of world war ii-related items and vignettes of life in Berkeley during the period. Through April 8, 2017. Berkeley History Center, Veterans Memorial Building, 1931 Center St., Berkeley
