SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The search is on for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a girl at Lafayette Park in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood Friday afternoon.
Police say the 7-year-old girl was assaulted in the female restroom at the park. The room's beige colored walls and decorative tile are out of eyesight from the popular play area.
Parents visiting the park expressed their concern.
"It seems like the safest park I could ever imagine and it's actually not. And I think parents take false comfort in that. I think that's the risk," said parent Peter Christodoulo.
"You hear about horror stories of that stuff but in this area you never thought that would happen," said Graham Belchers of San Francisco.
Marshall Butler was at the park Friday and saw police spring into action.
"I got here around 4, 4:15 p.m. and there were squad cars parked down at that end of the park and there were police talking with folks that were here," said Butler.
"Don't assume anything, you can never be too safe," said parent Kate Belchers.
"You have to go follow them and you have to take that extra step and not keep them out of your sight," said Christodoulo.
Police released a sketch of the suspect late Saturday afternoon. Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call them immediately.
