RICHMOND, Calif. (KGO) -- Rescue crews in Contra Costa County saved a dog trapped at a water treatment facility in Richmond Friday.

The dog was stuck on a small ledge just a few feet from untreated sewage.

Animal Control officers think the female pit bull may have been down there a few days.

Rescuers used a harness to pull the dog to safety and she collapsed, exhausted as soon as she was free.
