Girl donates her allowance after beloved police dog is killed

After hearing of the death of a beloved police dog, an 11-year-old named Allison stepped up and donated her $10 allowance to help the department purchase bulletproof vests.

Allison had written a note to the Massillon Police Department, sharing her condolences about Jethro, a police dog that was killed in the line of duty in January. The department posted her note on their Facebook page on Sunday, where users immediately praised the thoughtful girl and her kind gesture.

"That is so awesome! Brings a huge smile to my face," commented one Facebook user.

"What a compassionate and generous young lady," wrote another. "Very proud of you, Allison."

Hundreds attended a memorial service for the dog in Canton, Ohio, where Jethro's handler Officer Ryan Davis shared fond memories of his fallen friend.

"He was unconditionally loyal. He was unconditionally loving. He was my right hand man for the last year. He's been a member of the family since day one," Davis said, according to NewsNet 5 Cleveland. "This one is just so much deeper because I spend more time with him than I do with my family."
