SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) -- A Sacramento woman is crediting her service dog "Hook" with saving her life.

Joyce Herman is hearing impaired and was crossing the street in downtown Sacramento when she didn't hear or see an oncoming train.

"When I got to the track, Hook just pulled me off the track. He ran and just pulled me off the track. And I turned around, and here's me and here's the train, and whoosh it just missed me," she said.

For his efforts, Hook has earned himself a spot as a finalists for the upcoming Hero Dog Awards by the American Humane Association.
