Pilot killed in Sacramento plane crash identified as Bay Area dentist

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) -- The pilot of a plane that crashed in Sacramento Thursday has been identified as a 71-year-old man from Foster City.

Marshall Michaelian was a dentist known for giving free root canals in San Mateo.

His small plane crashed in Rio Linda and landed in a chicken coop after flying into power lines.

Witnesses said it looked like he was trying to make an emergency landing.

NTSB officials are investigating what caused his plane to crash.

Michaelian leaves behind a wife and three kids.
