Early voting for California primary races to begin in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Bernie Sanders is headed to Sacramento Monday the first day some voters will be able to cast their ballots in the California primaries.

Early voting at San Francisco City Hall begins at 8:00 a.m. Monday, just a little more than four weeks before the June 7 primary.

The idea is to give voters plenty of opportunity to cast their ballots and to avoid the crowds on election day.

Early voting in the city begins the same day the Hillary Clinton campaign opens its San Francisco office. It will occupy the former KRON building on Van Ness Avenue.

A few volunteers got a head start on things Sunday and expect to be in full operation Monday. Their official launch will be at 5:30 p.m.

As for Sanders, he'll be in Sacramento Monday for a campaign rally and on Tuesday he'll make an appearance at a campaign rally in Stockton.

Sanders faces slim odds in overtaking Clinton in total delegates, but he said he'll stay in the race through California's primary and other states.
