OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- ABC7 is teaming up with volunteers from non-profit organization KaBOOM! to transform a dilapidated playground in a Bay Area community.

Concordia Park is in Oakland's Millsmont neighborhood at 62nd Avenue and Camden Street.

On Tuesday, construction crews started tearing down the park's old playground. In its place, ABC7 will help build a much safer and more vibrant play space. A community garden for families to grow fruits and vegetables will also be added.

The entire project will be built on a single day -- Aug. 8.

ABC7 is proud to be a part of this project and can't wait to show you the end result.
