The adorable baby giant panda born Aug. 22 at the Smithsonian's National Zoo finally has a name: Bei Bei!
The cub received its name on Friday during a special ceremony at the zoo, where First Lady Michelle Obama and First Lady of the People's Republic of China Peng Liyuan announced the name.
The name means "precious, treasure" and is complementary to the cub's big sister's name, Bao Bao, according to the zoo's Instagram page. Bei Bei is one of three surviving cubs of the giant pandas Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, who were brought to the zoo in 2000.
