Bruce Jenner's transgender announcement inspires others
The announcement that former Olympian Bruce Jenner is transitioning to become a transgender woman has inspired a movement on social media and sparking conversations around the world.

"We are going to make a difference in the world with what we're doing," said Jenner in the exclusive interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer.

It's a lofty goal, with the former Olympian seeking to inspire and spark conversation.



Since Friday night, thousands of men, women, and children across the globe have showed their support for Bruce Jenner by posting pictures with the hashtag #PaintYourNailsforBruce.







"Having someone like Bruce Jenner tell his story really puts a face, and makes a lot of people want to talk about it," said Abbe Hand, CEO of The Trevor Project.



The group's website offers a host of resources for LGBTQ teens. They say their viewership has seen a 40 percent boost in the wake of Jenner's transitioning to become a transgender woman.

"Bruce Jenner's story opened up an amazing dialogue that we are having not only here in America, but all across the world," Hand said.



"I just want to enjoy life as who I am, it is that simple," Jenner said in the interview.



Jenner's journey carries special resonance for the transgender community. Transgender model Arisce Wanzer telling ABC News' Aditi Roy that Jenner's declaration will change the world.



"It is huge!" she said. "It is going to change TV, it is going to change people's minds, it is going to change the fan's minds, and everyone is going to have to open their minds."

Arin Andrews and Katie Rain Hill, both transgender authors, say Jenner's interview bolsters awareness and reshapes destinies.



"This is going to help people," Hill said. "I know that right now someone watched this special and it clicked it in their head, you know? It suddenly made sense to them."



"When it comes down to it we all bleed red and we are all human and we are all trying to be happy," Andrews said.
