FREMONT, Calif. (KGO) -- A Fremont-based hip-hop organization is calling on Google to stop targeting viewers of rap music videos on YouTube with ads for guns and gun paraphernalia.
The Hip-Hop Chess Federation is calling on Google to conduct independent audits of its advertising practices specifically as it relates to minority youth.
The organization's founder claims his research shows gun ads repeatedly appear before the start of rap videos.
ABC7 News has reached out to Google and is awaiting a response.
The Hip-Hop Chess Federation is a non-profit which works to fuse music, chess, and martial arts to promote unity, strategy, and nonviolence.
