Penguins get valentines at California Academy of Sciences

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Love was in the air at the California Academy of Sciences Friday where a biologist offered heart-shaped Valentines to the African Penguins.

It's an annual tradition that serves two purposes. First, the male penguins typically return to their nests and offer the valentines to their mates.

The gesture encourages the female penguins to breed and later, the love birds will use the paper to line their nests.
