What Really Matters: ABC7's veteran anchor Cheryl Jennings
ABC7's Cheryl Jennings is stepping down from the anchor desk. What really matters is that Cheryl isn't going anywhere. She'll be right here where she's always been - on air and in our community.

Change is the one constant in television news. The stories change and the people who bring you the stories change, too. This time it's one of the most familiar faces in the Bay Area. So now our dear friend and longtime colleague, Cheryl Jennings, has decided to step away from her daily anchor duties.

After three decades, two of them with me honored to share the anchor desk with her at 5:00 each night I should say, Cheryl has decided to contribute to ABC7 News in this new and very exciting way.

As you can tell, Cheryl is excited about this new chance to focus her remarkable talent, curiosity and passion for the job on special reports for this newscast.

She loves that kind of journalism-- and she's great at it.

Of course, we will all miss her nightly presence on the anchor desk.

But what really matters is that Cheryl isn't going anywhere, she'll be right here where she has always been -- on the air and in our community.

And we are all thankful for that.
