Adidas unveils All-Star uniforms

Adidas unveiled its designs for the uniforms and apparel for the 2015 NBA All-Star Game on Tuesday morning.

The uniforms are starkly plain compared to those of previous years, a tribute to the style of the host city's basketball past.

"It's simple and timeless," said David Cho, who oversees the NBA partnership with Adidas, the league's official on-court apparel supplier. "It's a nod to the history, culture and style of New York City basketball."

The most noticeable absence on the jersey is the lack of conference identifier. The league has had "East" and "West" on its All-Star Game jerseys since the 1960s.

Players from the Eastern Conference will wear white, while players for the Western Conference will wear black. Accessories -- including arm bands, headbands and shooting sleeves -- will be in the traditional colors (blue for the East, red for the West).

Another change is found on the back of the uniform, where the players' first and last names will be sewn above and below the number, respectively.

The jersey will feature five stars containing icons from each of New York City's five boroughs: the Unisphere (Queens), waves (Staten Island), a checkered taxi pattern (Manhattan), a vinyl record (Bronx) and brownstone bricks (Brooklyn).

The warm-up jacket continues with the military-themed patches denoting years played in the All-Star Game and other notable awards and titles. A shooting shirt features the block lettering similar to the font used on shirts in the 1950s and '60s.

Adidas and the league will begin selling the apparel to the public in January.

The NBA All-Star Weekend events on Feb. 13 and 14 will be split between the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. The game will be played at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 15.
