Marshawn Lynch's agent said Monday that his client misses football, but that they haven't discussed recent reports that Lynch's hometownOakland Raiders want him to play for them in 2017.
Doug Hendrickson said in an interview with KNBR Radio in San Francisco that Lynch has been in Canada. Hendricksonis scheduled to meet with the retired running back this week.
"So he and I have not spoken about this at all," Hendrickson said. "So it was the media who took the ball and kind ran with it.
"He's one of the most unique guys I've ever been with in my life. Marshawn, it wouldn't shock me in three days if he says, 'Hey, I want to play.' It wouldn't shock me if he says, 'Nah, I don't know where this came from. I don't want to play.'"
Last week, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson reported that the Raiders are strongly considering acquiring Lynch, either through trade or by his release.
For now, Oakland would have to trade for Lynch because his NFL rights remain the property of the Seattle Seahawks. He has two years remaining on his contract.
Raiders punter Marquette King recently tweeted a picture of himself cutting down cleats from a telephone wire, a nod to Lynch's February 2016 tweet of a picture of his cleats hanging from a telephone wire to signify he was retiring from the NFL.
In his nine-year career with Seattle and Buffalo, Lynch started 114 games and carried the ball 2,144 times for 9,112 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and 74 touchdowns. Seattle played in the Super Bowl twice, winning once, during Lynch's time there.
"He doesn't spend any of the money he's made. He's got a lot of money," Hendrickson said of Lynch in the interview with KNBR. "He does miss football, no question. He loves the game of football. He's 30. But until I meet with him this week, you know, I don't know what his mindset is. He's the kind of guy that can shift by the hour."
Hendrickson said Lynch won't bow to public pressure, however, saying "he does it how he wants to do it."
