Andre Iguodala to miss Game 1 of NBA Finals with leg contusion

The Golden State Warriors will continue to be without forward Andre Iguodala during Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the team announced Wednesday.

The Warriors said Iguodala, 34, who missed the last four games of the Western Conference finals after suffering a left lateral leg contusion against the Houston Rockets, continues to make progress and will be re-evaluated prior to Game 2.

"Based on how long it's been and when it happened, I'm not that far away," Iguodala told reporters on Wednesday.

The best-of-seven series against the Cleveland Cavaliers begins Thursday night (8 ET, ABC).

The Warriors said the 6-foot-7 swingman was evaluated by the team's medical staff Tuesday, and he continues to have pain and inflammation with the nerve surrounding his left knee.

"Grinding away at the process," Iguodala said. "Just trying to figure out how to move in general. Making some progress, [but] it's slower than we expected."

Iguodala, the 2015 Finals MVP, bumped knees with Houston Rockets All-Star James Harden in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals.

Said Warriors coach Steve Kerr on Wednesday: "He's frustrated. His body has not responded at this point."

Iguodala averaged 8.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in his three games against the Rockets, playing a little more than 27 minutes per game.
