SAN FRANCISO (KGO) -- Officials behind Super Bowl 50, which will be played at the 49ers' new Santa Clara Stadium, gave a new update Thursday on plans for the big game in 2016, talking about everything from fundraising to the regional effort.

Super Bowl 50 is 612 days away. The host committee members felt like they needed to check in and give the Bay Area a progress report. So, they held a press conference and the first thing they wanted to do was show off their new logo.

The logo will be the committee's identity, how it will be recognized. Graphic artists Michael Schwab designed it. You've probably seen his work before on Golden Gate National Parks posters.

The committee also unveiled the 17 sponsors that have committed money to the 2015 Super Bowl. They are ahead of where they thought they'd be right now, with $40 million in committed pledges.

"We are very excited about our progress. We look forward to great things ahead," said Super Bowl Host Committee CEO Keith Bruce. "Our goal is to deliver a phenomenal Super Bowl, an incredible experience on behalf of the NFL, the 49ers, and the region."

"We know that this is going to the most exciting, the most innovative, but also the most philanthropic Super Bowl ever in history. And I know the NFL will be proud of our region's way that we've done it," said San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee.

The game will be held at the brand new Levi Stadium in Santa Clara and be preceded by a week of activities. There will be a Super Bowl village and public exhibits.

Officials want to make sure Bay Area charities benefit from all this. The plan is to give 25 cents of every dollar to local high-performing charities that have yet to be named. They hope to make this the most charitable Super Bowl in history.

The game is scheduled to be played on February 7, 2016.
