Ben Roethlisberger (foot) to serve as Landry Jones' backup Sunday

Hobbled Pittsburghquarterback Ben Roethlisberger will back up Landry Jones when the Steelers host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at Heinz Field, a team source told ESPN's Britt McHenry.

Roethlisberger, who had his left foot roll under him while being brought to the ground late in last weekend's win over the Oakland Raiders, had been listed by the team as questionable. He was expected to be in a walking boot all week but was out of the boot and "progressing ahead of schedule," a source told ESPN on Thursday.

The source also said Mike Vick will be inactive against the Browns.

The Steelers went 2-2 with Roethlisberger sidelined due to a sprained MCL in his left knee earlier this season. He returned for Pittsburgh's Nov. 1 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. In his first drive back,Roethlisberger surpassed 40,000 passing yards, becoming the 16th NFL quarterback to reach that number and the ninth to do it with one team.

Roethlisberger has 1,508 passing yards, is completing nearly 67 percent of his throws and has seven touchdown passes against six interceptions for the 5-4 Steelers.

Pittsburgh has a bye in Week 11.
