SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Faced with elimination, the St. Louis Blues are going back to the goaltender they leaned on the most during their run to the Western Conference finals.

Blues coach Ken Hitchcock announced Tuesday that veteran Brian Elliott will be the starting goalie for Wednesday's Game 6 in San Jose.Jake Allen started the previous two games against the Sharks.

The Blues trail the Sharks 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.

"We got the jolt we needed from Jake," Hitchcock told reporters in St. Louis.

Elliott is undefeated this postseason in elimination games, winning a pair of Game 7s against the Blackhawks and Stars. Overall, Elliott is 9-8 with a .925 save percentage this postseason.

"These are Brian's playoffs," Hitchcock said. "We'd like to see him finish the job. ... I think he's going to be great tomorrow."
