Check out the Golden State Warriors' new alternate uniforms
Set to take over as the NBA's official apparel provider this season, Nike gave us a first look at every team's new alternate uniform designs on Friday.

OAKLAND (KGO) -- Full-time MVP, part-time model Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant debut the team's new jersey at a Nike event in Los Angeles Friday night.

In the Bay Area fans fawned over the design. "I like it. I like the colors. They put the black in it. That is a nice jersey," said Bena Stewart, Oakland resident.

The iconic oak tree logo and phrase "The Town" are a clear shout-out to the City of Oakland, the current home of the team.

Chris Dobbins with Save Oakland Sports sees the marketing move.

"The Warriors are tremendous business people. They've done a great job taking over the team, building a championship team. They are going to sell a lot of these jerseys," said Dobbins.

Versions of the oak tree logo can be found all over town from street signs to city letter head, but according to OaklandNorth.net even city leaders don't know where it originated.

The local store, Oaklandish, has capitalized on the image adding roots to its version of the tree. The Warriors roots however are not as firmly planted in Oakland. In the fall of 2019 the organization plans to move into a new San Francisco arena.

"Obviously that is an Oakland logo so for them to leave the town... I guess it could be considered a tribute," said Stacy Koo, Richmond resident.

Some see at as salt in the wound as the team skips town for the city. Other fans point to the team's broad appeal.

"It's good and bad, but it's nice to still represent the Bay Area you know it's still both," said Matt Navichoque, El Sobrante Resident.

A release date for fan purchases has not been announced. The Warriors say it will be coming soon.
