Two teams went wire-to-wire in 2016, or more accurately: They each tripped over the wire repeatedly. The Kansas Jayhawks and UCF Knights both went winless in 2015, and are looking to change their fortunes in 2016.
The Jayhawks begin their season against FCS University of Rhode Island on Sept. 3 (7 p.m. ET, WatchESPN). And while a win over the Rams may seem like a given for some programs, the Jayhawks began the 2015 season with a loss to South Dakota State -- another FCS team. Other nonconference opponents for Kansas include Ohio and Memphis before getting into the meat of a Big 12 slate that features, in order, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.
UCF begins a new era under coach Scott Frost in 2016, and will start its season against FCS South Carolina State on Sept. 3 (7 p.m. ET, WatchESPN)before heading to Ann Arbor to face Michigan. The Knights' nonconference season ends after hosting Maryland and traveling to FIU to close out the month of September.
