OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- It may seem like a long shot, but there's guarded optimism in Oakland that a deal can be done to keep the Raiders from moving to Las Vegas.[br /][br /]FULL INTERVIEW: " TARGET="" REL=""]Bay Area legend Ronnie Lott shares plan to save Raiders with ABC7's Mike Shumann[br /][br /]Some of it centers on the effort of Ronnie Lott, who is working on a deal to build a new stadium on the coliseum site.[br /][br /]NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, who played for both the 49ers and the Raiders, is putting together a group of investors to try to keep the Raiders in Oakland. There are a lot of moving parts with the investment group and dealing with the city of Oakland. Las Vegas has a head start, but Lott thinks his group can make a big push.[br /][Ads /][br /]Lott began his quest to help find a stadium solution for Oakland about a year ago when former Raider quarterback and fellow USC alumni Rodney Peete approached him.[br /][br /]The two set up a meeting with Raiders owner Mark Davis.[br /][br /]RELATED: Raiders owner Mark Davis: Oakland 'shut the door on itself' in stadium move[br /][br /]"He goes, 'hey man, if you can get the city and county together, and if you can bring the land, or a deal to me where you have that, he goes, man that's really the opportunity,'" said Lott.[br /][Ads /][br /]Since then it's been Lott's mission to assemble a team and get city and county leaders on board, all working together. He says the response has been overwhelming.[br /][br /]"It's not only one person, it's a number of people who have said that they want to contribute," he said. "Not just who they are, they want to contribute to dollars and cents to this effort."[br /][br /]Oakland needs to get to work on its effort. Last week, Nevada's governor signed legislation approving a record $750 million in public funds for a new stadium in Las Vegas for the Raiders. Davis announced he's all in.[br /][br /]"It's unfair when people to keep bringing up, 'If Oakland does this, or Oakland does that,' Las Vegas has already done what they're, supposed to do," said Davis.[br /][br /]Lott and East Bay leaders aren't giving up. A report in Monday's San Francisco Chronicle says Lott's group has submitted an outline of a term sheet to Oakland Officials, but he says with the support he's getting from local business leaders and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, he's hopeful he can get a deal done.[br /][Ads /][br /][br /][br /]RELATED: Fans say they won't give up on the Raiders following Nevada Stadium vote[br /][br /]"All you can do is make your best effort, your best effort every day, and because you're able to make your best effort, that gives you a shot."[br /][br /]Ronnie doesn't have a developer right now, but says a number have expressed interest including the DeBartolo group, owned by former 49er owner Eddie DeBartolo.[br /][br /]Lott says he's not interested in owning part of the Raiders. He's interested in being a good citizen as he saw how devastating it was to the city of San Francisco when the 49ers left.[br /][br /]Click here for full coverage on the Oakland Raiders.
