SAN DIEGO -- The San Francisco Giants have activated Tim Hudson from the 15-day disabled list.

Hudson got the start Monday night in San Diego. He had been sidelined by a strained right shoulder.

To make room on the roster, the Giants designated right-hander Jean Machi for assignment. Machi was 1-0 with a 5.14 ERA in 33 appearances.
