Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr says Stephen Curry not slumping

CLEVELAND -- Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr was steadfast in saying that nothing is wrong with star point guard Stephen Curry, after the league MVP shot 5-of-23 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, and air-balled his last attempt.

"He's in a slump? Steph Curry's in a slump?" Kerr asked assembled media at shootaround before Tuesday's Game 3 in Cleveland.

To counter the assertion that his star is slumping, Kerr referenced a recent Curry performance, saying, "What'd he do in Game 1?" In that game, Curry scored 26 points and hit half his shots.

"Steph's fine. Steph's fine," Kerr repeated.

When asked what adjustments are needed for Curry going into Game 3, Kerr said, "We just have to get better shots for him and get him in a good rhythm," adding, "It was good defense by Cleveland, bad offense by us."

Since suffering head and elbow injuries in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals against Houston, Curry has shot 10-of-36 on 3-pointers and 26-of-73 from the field. Curry has confirmed that he's recovered from the fall and is healthy for this series.

"No, [the fall] had nothing to do with it," Curry said Tuesday. "I feel good. I feel fine. I gotta shoot better."

Kerr also said that Curry's health is not a factor, but as a former NBA sharpshooter himself, admitted these things happen.

"Shots come and go," Kerr said. "No one would say a word if it was the regular season."

The Warriors play the Cavaliers at 9 p.m. ET on ABC with the best-of-seven series tied 1-1.
