Veteran striker Mohammadou Idrissou has been left out of Cameroon's final 23-man squad for the World Cup by coach Volker Finke.

Idrissou, 34, was one of five cuts as Finke whittled down his group to make the trip to Brazil.

The Maccabi Haifa forward has scored nine goals in 41 appearances for the Indomitable Lions since making his international debut in 2003.

Also missing out were Olympiakos defender Gaeteng Bong, Rennes defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik, Guingamp goalkeeper Ndy Assembe and Osasuna midfielder Cedric Loe.

Captain Samuel Eto'o was included in the squad and is set to play in his fourth World Cup this summer, equalling Jacques Songo'o and Rigobert Song's record for an African player.

Cameroon, who reached the quarterfinal stage of the World Cup in 1990, will face Brazil, Croatia and Mexico in Group A.

The Indomitable Lions have so far played two warm-up games, drawing 2-2 with Germany and losing 2-1 to Paraguay.

Cameroon squad:

Goalkeepers: Charles Itandje (Konyaspor), Sammy Ndjock (Fetihespor), Loic Feudjou (Coton Sport).
