Kevin Durant sits out Warriors' win over Timberwolves with thigh injury

Golden State Warriors All-Star forward Kevin Durant, suffering from a left thigh contusion, did not play Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 2017 Finals MVP, who also did not partake in shootaround Wednesday morning, told ESPN he expects to play Saturday against thePhiladelphia 76ers, the Warriors' next opponent.

It was Durant's first missed game of the season. The Warriors beat Minnesota125-101at home.

He sustained the injury in the first quarter of Monday's home victory over the Miami Heat, buthe continued to play, registering 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists in 33 minutes.

Team officials don't view the injury as serious in nature.

Through 11 games this season, Durant is averaging 24.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 blocks.
